Design
While much of the coachbuilding industry remains firmly rooted in traditional ‘build and make it fit’ techniques and outdated ‘building based’ electrical methodology, for well over a decade we have increasingly left this far behind.
We have fully embraced the use of a broad range of technological advances, many of which we have directly influenced, and successfully integrated these with the highest standards of traditional coachbuilding quality and expertise.
3D Computer Aided Design
Long before starting the manufacturing stage we utilise advanced 3D CAD to accurately design and evaluate critical aspects such as structural deflection, material stress measurement and evaluate the use of different structures and materials as well as calculating vehicle mass.
Using ‘top-down’ design we are able to create accurate 3D computer models allowing our clients to view and modify how the finished vehicle looks before committing to the final engineering design and manufacture.
Once the design has been agreed the CAD system is used to complete both the overall construction and key components to an exceptionally high level of accuracy.
Electrical Design
With the exponential increase in electrical equipment, power demand and increasingly sophisticated on-board equipment, conventional ‘building based’ electrical design is increasingly inappropriate for modern vehicles.
In line with the world’s major car and truck manufacturers we have moved heavily into CANbus based electrical design but unlike those manufacturers our systems are generally on a far larger scale, frequently handling the levels of power more generally associated with a small town.
We are also at the forefront of challenging conventional wisdom, producing radically new electrical system designs that are not only safer and more efficient but operationally significantly more reliable and resilient.
Research & Development
We have a substantial on-going programme of R&D both internally and working in partnership with our technology partners. The programme covers a wide range of subjects ranging from power generation and power management through to communications and materials technology.
