Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue

Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue, the UK's largest non metropolitan UK Fire & Rescue service, selected JS Fraser to build their Fire Education Unit based on an MAN 12t chassis cab.

Currently in build the unit will support DFSR's proactive delivery of fire and safety education to schools. The vehicle will replicate the key features of a front line fire engine with facilities which include working ladder, operating water hose, genuine Godiva pumps and gauges, emergency lights, siren and PA system.

Internally the vehicle has presentation facilities with touch sensitive smart board, projector, sound system and a comfortable air conditioned / heating area with seating for 8 persons plus wheelchair. A combined wheelchair access lift and emergency exit steps have been provided.

A quiet running on-board generator supplies power for charging the marine quality deep discharge AGM batteries which in turn power the on-board equipment. To provide maximum comfort a combined air conditioning & heater system is included. Advanced electronic design incorporating deep discharge AGM batteries and a noise suppressed on-board diesel generator allows the vehicle to operate.

Operationally the vehicle has a 300 litre water tank and a hose to help provide a simulation of fire fighting.

Photographs will be published as soon as the vehicle has been completed.
